Mr. Carpenter Joined the Cadet program in 1999 as a Navy League Cadet with Navy League Cadet Corps Admiral Landymore, reaching the rank of Petty Officer 2nd Class and retiring as the Corps Coxswain in 2002. As a Sea Cadet with the Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps Admiral Nelles, Mr. Carpenter progressed through the ranks to reach the highest cadet rank of Chief Petty Officer 1st Class and served as Coxswain of the unit.

Through his years as a cadet, Mr. Carpenter was a member of the Drill with and without Arms teams, the First Aid team, the Sheer legs team as well as the sports team.

From 2005 until his retirement in 2008, Mr. Carpenter was given the opportunity to serve as a Sea Cadet Staff Cadet with NLCC Admiral Landymore. Here he would assist the Navy League Officer Staff in the instruction of Drill, Dress and Deportment, all while working on his own leadership technique.

In the 2006 training year Mr. Carpenter was able to participate in the Duke of Edinburgh program, upon successful completion of the course, he was presented the Internationally recognized Silver Duke of Ed Award, the second highest achievable level. That same year, Mr. Carpenter was nominated and selected as the recipient of the Royal Canadian Legion Cadet Medal of Excellence.

Mr. Carpenter attended HMCS Ontario located at RMC In Kingston, Ontario for General Training, and Trade Group 1 Gunnery. Mr. Carpenter would return to HMCS Ontario as an Athletic Instructor staff cadet in summer of 2007.

Upon his retirement from the Sea Cadet program in 2008, Mr. Carpenter enrolled as a Navy League Officer with NLCC Admiral Landymore. Over the years with Admiral Landymore, Mr. Carpenter has progressed through the Officer ranks and attended various courses and competitions as a coach as well as a Judge.

Within the unit, Mr. Carpenter has served as the Drill and Standards Officer, Divisional Officer, Guard Officer, Executive Officer and most recently assumed the position of Commanding Officer in March of 2023.

Mr. Carpenter’s greatest memories of the Cadet program include attending the Provincial Drill Competition in Sudbury, Ontario in his first year as a cadet and Canoeing down the St. Lawrence Sea way.

Throughout his years as a Cadet Mr. Carpenter has made lifelong friendships not only on a local level, but all across the country. He is thankful to the cadet program for the experiences he has gained such as self-discipline, Leadership and problem-solving skills. These skills have given him many opportunities in his civilian life and personal career.
