Sandy Philpot  -President

In 2015, Sandy became involved with the Navy League cadet program when her daughter joined. As the newly elected President for the 2023-2024 season, her priority is to ensure that their team consists of diverse professionals with various backgrounds to support and enhance the cadet program. In her role as President, Sandy provides administrative support to the Brantford Branch Office of Navy League of Canada. She has been a resident of Brantford for 18 years with a background in theatre management and office administration. Her experience with Mirvish Productions, Cineplex Odeon, and Rainbow Cinemas equipped her with the necessary skills to become an active volunteer in her community for over 30 years, participating in various events ranging from the Dragon Boat races, homelessness outreach, and the Toronto International Film Festival.

Her extensive volunteer service prior to her time with the cadet program, included serving as a volunteer Program Coordinator for the Food for Thought program at Christ the King school for 8 years, which delivered healthy and delicious snacks to all the school children. She was also a Beaver Scout leader with Scouts Canada for five years.

Lori Parkinson -Treasurer

Lori has volunteered for various activities within the branch for the past five years, with recently being elected as Treasurer. She is a mom of 3 boys, whom 2 are a part of the cadet program. Lori is a bookkeeper by trade and runsher own business. She strongly believes in volunteering within the community, such as with cadets, reading programs in school, sports programs, and animal shelters. Experience within in the finance industry brings integrity and transparency to the cadet program, which allows for its continued success now and many years to come. It truly takes a village for our youth to grow and develop into strong, independent, successful members of our communities.

Kelly Austin  – Secretary

Kelly has been involved with the branch since 2015 when one of her children joined the Navy League cadet program. After wanting to take a more active role in the Branch, she ran for secretary in 2023. She currently has two children in the Sea Cadet program and one in the Navy League program. As a stay-at-home mom with five children, she uses her strong organizational and multitasking skills honed through years of balancing the demands of a large family to embark on her new journey as secretary of the Navy League -Brantford Branch. Kelly’s children have received so many opportunities to learn and grow as the result of the cadet program. Kelly has seen first hand how those opportunities given to the youth in the cadet program can both improve the lives of the youth involved and enrich the greater community as those youth become leaders across Canada.
